Roger Parry FRICS

President

Roger Parry is a Land and Estate Agent based in Shropshire and has been involved with Shropshire Rural Support for over 25 years, first as a volunteer, then as a trustee, and now as President.

He had the honour of representing SRS at a Buckingham Palace Garden Party following the charity’s receipt of the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Services to the Community in 2022.

In his professional and charitable work, Roger frequently encounters people experiencing depression, addiction, financial difficulties, or loneliness. Deeply aware of the risks of severe depression, including suicide, he is committed to supporting SRS’s mission. Founded in the early 1990s by Clifford Evans MBE in response to rural suicides, SRS acts as a facilitator, listening to people’s concerns in strictest confidence and directing them to the appropriate sources of help.

Looking ahead, Roger is helping lead the introduction of new initiatives to support those in need across Shropshire. He also values the charity’s dedicated administration team, skilled volunteers, and committed trustees, whose collective efforts ensure SRS continues to make a real difference in rural communities.

Testimonials

When I retired I looked around to see how I could help local farmers as they battled with the ups and downs of farming and running their family businesses. As a volunteer with Shropshire Rural Support, I feel I can really help farmers who need someone to talk to who understands their situation. I find it rewarding to give a bit back to a way of life that has served me well and I love.
