Gareth Hales-Povey will join Shropshire Rural Support as Administrator on 1st April 2026. Based in North Shropshire, Gareth is married with two children and brings with him a strong connection to rural life. A dairy herdsman by trade, he is deeply passionate about the countryside especially the communities and people at its heart.
With a background in management and people development, Gareth combines empathy with a motivational approach and a positive outlook. This enables him to understand both the challenges and the celebrations within rural communities, as well as the wider issues facing farmers and the agricultural industry.
Gareth enjoys spending time out in the field, where he can often be found at county shows and local events. He thrives on meeting new people, listening to their stories, and offering support to those at the heart of rural life.
In his role as Administrator, Gareth will support the charity’s Coordinator and Fundraising Manager, working closely with Trustees, volunteers, and partner organisations. This is a key position in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the charity and strengthening its support for rural communities across Shropshire.
