Brian Welti

Trustee

Brian Welti brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to Shropshire’s rural communities to his role as Trustee of Shropshire Rural Support.

Having concluded his term as High Sheriff of Shropshire (2024–25), Brian is particularly well placed for this role, as the central theme of his year in office was supporting Shropshire’s rural communities. With a background in farming and estate management, he has an in-depth understanding of the challenges facing agriculture across the county

Alongside his work with Shropshire Rural Support, Brian currently serves as a Trustee of the Shropshire Army Cadet Force Trust and the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt League of Friends, and is the Lead Ambassador for the Shropshire Community Foundation. He has also been a Magistrate for 18 years and is a Governor at Oswestry School, where he has chaired the Finance and General Purposes Committee for the past 12 years and was recently elected Vice Chair of Governors.

After retiring from the Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service in 2023 following 35 years of service — most recently as Watch Manager at Baschurch Fire Station — Brian continues to run his own traffic management and car parking company. The business employs over 200 students during the summer months, with 85% of staff based in Shropshire, and supports more than 60 major events annually. These include the RAF Cosford Air Show, Newport, Oswestry, Burwarton and Nantwich Agricultural Shows, Chester Races, Oulton Park Race Circuit, Henley Royal Regatta and Chris Evans’ CarFest.

Brian’s diverse career and leadership experience equip him with a unique and valuable skill set, which he brings wholeheartedly to his role as Trustee.

Testimonials

When I retired I looked around to see how I could help local farmers as they battled with the ups and downs of farming and running their family businesses. As a volunteer with Shropshire Rural Support, I feel I can really help farmers who need someone to talk to who understands their situation. I find it rewarding to give a bit back to a way of life that has served me well and I love.
